So my question for the experts is: Is it the case where Rolex elected to keep the two-tone Daytona models using luminova and only use chromalight in the stainless models? And barring that possibility, what year did Rolex switch over to chromalight for the Daytona? First you have to figure out whether you want blue (Chromalight) lume or green (Superluminova) lume. Chromalight lume dates back to watches produced after 2008/9, whereas Superluminova is the old lume. Both models linked above have Chromalight lume. I have a GMT 2 with the green lume, and a DJ41 with the Chromalight, the Chromalight "glows" much longer than the green lume in my experience; That being said, the Chromalight is superior in my opinion. The Chromalight lume technology sets a new standard for luminosity in the dark. The luminescent material used on the hour markers, hands, and indices emits a vivid blue glow that is both longer-lasting and brighter than traditional luminescent materials.
