I’m lucky enough to be in the position where I am able to add a Rolex to my collection, and have narrowed it down to the explorer and explorer 2 polar. I’ve tried both on and love them, but the explorer 2 is in the lead. I’ve only been able to try on the new 42mm version. What are your thoughts on the Rolex Submariner black no date ceramic Ref # 114060 -VS- the Rolex Explorer II 42mm Polar White Ref # 216570?? If you had to pick one, and couldn’t have both, which would it be? The current Rolex Explorer II has become somewhat of a cult among watch enthusiasts. I wore it for a week to find out why. The new 40mm Explorer is definitely on my radar from the new releases (that and the 42mm Ti Yachtmaster). I've been looking at 39mm Mk 2 Explorers for a while but haven't pulled the trigger. I thought I'd make a quick comparison shot to see the differences (new on the left, old on the right). The Explorer II will never be as popular as the big 3 (Submariner, GMT Master II or Daytona), however there are very few watches from any brand as popular as the big 3 from Rolex. Having said that, it a very well loved watch on here.
