The new Oyster Perpetual lineup comes in five sizes: 28, 31, 34, 36, and 41mm. However, don't think you're getting the same set of watches in every size. This is Rolex we're talking about – that would be too easy. Let's break down . Aesthetically the Explorer's bezel is flatter, whereas the OP has a more rounded bezel (in addition to the different dial/hands). Explorer's bracelet is a more extreme taper as well. As a practical matter, think the only difference from a feature perspective is the safety clasp as mentioned above. The newest Rolex Explorer — whether in steel or two-tone — could be the first steel sports Rolex that doesn’t garner a waitlist. In the beginning, this won’t be the case, but I’d guess that things will settle out rather quickly. The size will make quick work of its potential customer base.
Explorer has better clasp. OP has more modern bracelet taper. OP is cheaper at MSRP. For me, Explorer would win for most OP models. Only exceptions would be turquoise or silver 36mm OPs.
