In search of the perfect fusion between movement and case, Hublot engineers and chemists have researched and developed a transparent material which reveals the heart of the watch, all while being robust enough to effectively protect the mechanism. Hublot’s researchers have succeeded in developing a crystallisation process (involving temperatures of up to 2050°C) that produces large sapphire blocks of perfect transparency and uniform colour – vivid blue and ruby-red. Aside from its bright green transparent case, the new Hublot Big Bang Unico Green SAXEM is very much the same flagship chronograph that occupies a cornerstone role within the brand’s modern catalog. takashi murakami’s signature flower takes the key design in hublot’s new sapphire MP-15, coupled with a central flying tourbillon.
Hublot used four blocks of machined sapphire to create this transparent version of the case — a very difficult process made all the more challenging by the unusual shape; according to the company, new machines and new processes to polish and finish components needed to be developed. The openworked dial is made of transparent resin and shows off the watch’s movement, Hublot’s in-house Unico Caliber HUB1242. The bezel has the well-known H-shaped screws holding it in place; the crystal covering the dial has a nonreflective coating on both sides and an etched Hublot logo.

Completely transparent, completely revolutionary. The Big Bang Unico Sapphire showcases #Hublot's mastery of synthetic sapphire, revealing the heart of the watch while robustly protecting its mechanism. A true work of art.

The Seamaster Cosmic was introduced in 1967 and produced into early 1970s. Omega was “getting with the times” and Cosmic represented a radically different design philosophy compared to the traditional looking 50/60s Seamasters. The results speak for themselves. Finnish advertisement from 1969.
