In my experience, 240 to 260 are very good results after service. Rolex’s tech information for this movement says 280 is the perfect amplitude (compared to the 300-305 of his older brother) but you’ll hardly see such numbers on a VS.

It would be interesting to find and analyze two watches, with either 3235 or 3285 movements, built in different years, then measure different (55,53) lift angles, followed by a comparison of the individual movement components. Getting ready to pull the trigger on a Rolex Datejust 41. After hearing some comments on this site-I getting a little worried about the 3235 movement and some troubles that some people are having. Are these just isolated incidents or is the 3235 movement something that I should be concerned about? Grinding out a Submariner case or melting ceramic into a red and white bezel insert is just icing on the cake, and I’m sure Rolex knows this. One of the absolute worst things Rolex could do is replace a time-tested and reliable movement like the 3135 with something that doesn’t work as it should. Too much amplitude is only bad if the escapement "knocks the banking". Adjusting the microstella screws won't resolve that issue. On a self winding watch the mainstring has a bridle that actually acts like a clutch inside the spring barrel.

Taking a look at the 3235. Servicing this 3235 from a DateJust 41 under warranty, seconds wheel pivot is dry on the dial side. Causing extra friction and wear which lowers amplitude and causes timekeeping issues. __________________. I put the watch on a Timegrapher full wound and it showed only 225 degrees of Amplitude Dial Up and 210 degrees Crown Down. After 24 hours the Amplitude decreased to 210 degrees DU and 175 degrees CD.
