I'll agree with you that the Colts except for maybe the A17035 had a lot of wording on the dial. To me I find it interesting how the water resistance has been reduced for the non-chrono automatic versions.
Although both pieces are similar in styling I think the Colt is a better choice for a daily wearer. It truly is a "do anything, go anywhere piece". The SO is more tool looking because the dial is stenciled and is larger at 42mm (Colt is 40mm for GMT, 41mm for non GMT). The Breitling Colt collection — introduced in the 1980s and intended, as were its predecessors, the Breitling Navitimer and Breitling Chronomat, as military watches — has been revamped this year.
